Animal Life Cycles – Grade Three

For Grade Three, a central idea in the science curricula is that different animals have different life cycles. While students come to understand different life stories of different types of animals, they begin to appreciate the beauty and fragility of life. Grade Three students  developed an understanding of different animals have different life stories through their life cycles. They then applied the knowledge by designing and creating a suitable habitat that would meet all he needs of that animals’ life story. The essential inquiry question was ‘what essential elements are required in designing an habitat that meets my animal’s needs throughout their life cycle? Students chose to do a Blabberize or a Green Screen presentation as the animals describing how the environment meets there needs. They also created a diorama of their animal’s habitat.
