In my professional reading I recently was introduced to a term “readicied” from Karen Gallagher’s book Readicide: How Schools Are Killing Reading and What You Can Do About It  (©2009, Stenhouse Publishers: Portland, ME)  that examines how schools approach reading and the overemphasis of testing that does not curate authentic, high interest reading.  How does task design in classrooms cultivate life long readers? How do we support inquiry and the curate an interest and passion for reading in our students? Check out this post on Eleven Ways to Engage Reluctant Readers from Education Rethink.
