Grade ones have begun an inquiry project looking at two essential questions: How have changes in our community affected the animals over time? How does caring for the natural environment contribute to the well being of our community?
In the ‘we do it’ phase all the grade one’s practiced their research skills while learning about penguins. The students began their research by fact finding and categorizing their facts into different content areas. They then formed small content area groups, and using the iPads, made a comic life strip of the information they found related to their area of research. Each comic life page became part of full comic books sharing what they learned about penguins. Now it is time for them to work in small groups with the animal of their choice!
